If you’re dissatisfied with your Conservative Member of Parliament and want to do something about it, please complete the form at the bottom of this page and we’ll put you in touch with other like-minded activists.
Click this Hansard ink to find out if your MP voted in favour of Theresa May’s dismal deal. Click here and here to see if they voted for Nick Boles’ and Ken Clarke’s respective Common Market 2.0 and Customs Union proposals. Select “Party” and scroll down to find your parliamentarian. Special General Meeting
Under the Conservative Party Constitution, members can effectively deselect their MP by moving a motion of no confidence at a Special General Meeting.
To arrange an SGM, the proposer of the motion must gather signatures from other members amounting to at least 10% of the previous year’s total or 50, whichever is lowest. The general meeting takes place between 14 and 28 days after the petition is handed to the association chairman and secretary. The motion is decided by a simple majority.
In each constituency, we are looking for a coordinator to propose the motion and a handful of volunteers to help with collecting signatures. For most participants, the process will be very straightforward, they simply need to get a letter into the coordinator, pledging support for the motion. So even if you’re not in a position to play an active role, we encourage you to read on and complete the form at the bottom of this page.
Become a Deselection Activist
To get involved, please complete the form below. We are putting together groups of activists and potential signatories in each target constituency. As soon as we’ve gathered enough interest in each seat, we shall put everyone who has agreed to participate in touch with one another with a view to launching a petition for an SGM.
