Leave.EU launched a campaign on Monday to get the treacherous Chancellor removed from the Cabinet.
A year on from the referendum, hardline Remoaners are still hard at work trying to thwart Brexit, and no single individual is more of a threat to national independence than Philip Hammond.
A vocal supporter of a ‘soft’ or fake Brexit, the Chancellor has agitated for months to keep Britain in the dysfunctional European single market. He used the Prime Minister’s absence last week to spread his vision of a phoney Brexit as though it was agreed at the highest levels of government, and he boasted about his plans to delay proper border controls and huge trade deals with global partners until 2022.
The so-called ‘transition deal’ he wants is a con designed to lock Britain in the most oppressive structures of the failing European project indefinitely. We voted to leave the European Union in June 2016. Article 50 was triggered in March 2017. We need to be separated from Brussels by March 2019 at the latest – no ifs, no buts. National independence cannot be delayed any further.
Hammond has already been rebuffed by most senior members of the Cabinet. Dr Liam Fox has denied that the Chancellor’s view holds sway over the government, confirming that he wants free movement to end by 2019. Key allies of David Davis and Boris Johnson have made similar noises. And just today a spokesperson for Theresa May confirmed that free movement would come to an end by 2019, exposing Hammond’s intervention as a lie.
We can’t continue with a Chancellor who goes off-script and speaks for the interests of the European Union while we are locked in the most important negotiations of our lifetime. His desire to leave our borders open while locking us out of global trade deals is unacceptable. It’s time for Theresa May to show some strength and sack the saboteur.
We encourage our supporters to write to their local MP to express their displeasure at the Chancellor’s attempts to undermine Brexit and call for his removal from the Cabinet. He is becoming an increasingly serious liability, it’s time for him to go.
